Sensei, Senpai, Kohai!

Thank you for your interest in our 2024 Hawaii Gasshuku! It promises to be a unique and powerful experience.

There’s many moving parts to this event. We are doing all we can to make this event a valuable and memorable time for all – student and teacher alike.

Let me say we need early registrations and we need them as soon as is reasonably possible. Booking and reserving venues takes commitment from us and requires advance payment. Flights have to be purchased well in advance. This is Hawaii! Paradise on Earth.  It books up early and we have to reserve early to make this affordable.

*If by any unfortunate event this gasshuku should be canceled, 100% of your registration fee shall be refunded.

If your plans change, please consider your registration fee a donation in support of the instructors of the event, Higaonna sensei, and his mission to promote true Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Do.  

The event will be held over 4 days. It will begin Thursday the 25th April 2024 and end Sunday the 28th of April 2024.  

As is befitting such an occasion we have invited Kuramoto Sensei, Uehara Sensei and Yonesato Sensei! As you are well aware, these are the most senior instructors at the Higaonna dojo. Sensei Chris de Wet from the U.S mainland will also be teaching along with other senior TOGKF senior instructors.

The cost for this event is $300.00 USD and this includes an event T-shirt.  

A grading will be held and details including costs will be shared in a timely manner once they arrive from Okinawa.

The Sayonara party promises to be an event in itself.  For the bargain price of $55.00 USD (special price for children available). Dinner will include performances from the representatives of the Hawaiian people as well as performances by representatives of the local Okinawan community. These performances include notable artists from their respective cultures. Of course, as is the custom at such gasshuku, grading results will be announced and celebrated as well.

Accommodation:

The Gasshuku’s hotel is with the Paradise Bay Resort. A standard room is around $180 USD excluding taxes. However, we are being encouraged to fill the room with up to four participants at no added price. This means that your hotel stay for the entire event could be as little as $200 USD by following one of two methods.

1. You and 3 or 4 of your friends share a room and divide the cost

                        or

2. Put your name on a list and we will organize and room you with other like minded TOGKF members (of the same gender) on a budget.

This is HAWAII. Who would have thought Hawaii could be this affordable for a gasshuku/vacation?
